Moscow Sights, Sounds and Hotels
Lenin’s Mausoleum, where Lenin’s body, (or wax replica), lies in a crystal casket, was designed by Alexei Shchusev in 1924 and is an architectural masterpiece of modern minimalism. The red granite and black labradonite of the façade symbolise Communism and mourning. The never-ending queues of those seeking admission to pay homage to Lenin, the founder of the Soviet State, have dropped off considerably with the sweeping changes in Russia in the late 20th century.
There is much controversy surrounding the Lenin Mausoleum in Moscow, but that makes it an all the more interesting experience. There are a significant amount of Moscow sights and activities to absorb, so best book accommodation in one of the fine Moscow hotels and plan your trip soon.
